Welcome, come join us and learn about the rich and diverse living cultures of our One Salt Ocean, the Pacific. Covering a third of the earth, the Pacific is home to vibrant and diverse cultures that speak a quarter of the world’s languages. The Australian Museum (AM) has one of the world's largest and most significant Pacific cultural collection which you can explore though our permanent gallery, Wansolmoana or online Pasifika Collection.

We acknowledge the Ancestors, Mana and cultural protocols of First Nations people of Australia and the Pacific.

Wansolmoana Connect

Wansolmoana Connect is an engagement initiative directed at promoting availability and access to Pacific peoples to their unique cultural heritages. From collections and gallery tours to community presentations, consultations and workshops; Wansolmoana Connect emphasises the concept of 'Kanohi ki te kanohi' - Face to face - or rather "meeting people where they are at" with particular importance on Pasifika in diaspora.

Utilising the Wansolmoana gallery as its foundation and with support of the Australia Museum's 65,000 Pasifika object collection; Wansolmoana Connect combines knowledges, histories and wisdoms from both traditional and contemporary worlds to offer Pasifika diverse pathways to connecting further into their oceanic lineages.
