6:30pm - 8pm: Talk (Theatre, UG)

What if The Day After Tomorrow was not just fiction, but a prediction? The 2004 blockbuster depicted a world-wide reckoning with the effects of climate change, and now 20 years later, we are witnessing just how prescient the film may have been.

Join us for this members-exclusive free talk and Q&A with renowned climate scientists, Scientia Professor Matthew England and Adjunct Professor (and The Day After Tomorrow's scientific advisor) Michael Molitor, as they explore a growing threat in our ocean currents. Together, they explain the science behind the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, and how climate change might lead to a shut down of the 'conveyor belt' of our climate system. Discover how these observed changes could impact our environment in devastating ways and what the broader implications are for our planet's future.

Enjoy drinks and nibbles in the Members Lounge from 6pm, before heading up to the Theatre at 6:30pm for this fascinating deep-dive into the climate dynamics that could shape our future.
